Public-Private-Partnership

What is PPP (Public-Private Partnerships)?

Whilst building a wealth of experience in water and wastewater services for people around the world over the last 155 years, Veolia Water has forged efficient partnerships models with municipalities. Public-private partnerships (PPP) were originally developed in France, are have become increasingly successful in other countries, in major cities such as Berlin, Indianapolis and Shanghai in particular.

PPP Principles

The facilities remain within the municipality ownership; the private operator works as a subcontractor under the operation contract for a specified period of time.

The operations allow for flexibility as negotiations take place between the two parties during the contract redaction period in order to serve the best interest of both parties. The result is a final agreement most adapted to the local situation and meeting the expectations of the municipality.

In particular, the municipality sets the drinking water or rejected treated water standard level as well as the water price.
