Veolia Water Korea, launches social responsibility initiatives, Clean-up campaigns and educational programs for World Water Day designated by UN on March 22nd 2010

March 22, 2010

Veolia Water Korea implements community initiatives in cities with operations for World Water Day 2010 on March 22nd.

To raise awareness of the importance of water and preservation of water resources, Veolia Water Korea has launched clean-up campaigns near the operational locations. For Water Day 2010, employees voluntarily participated in the campaign that was organized throughout all sites in Incheon, Cheongju, Ulsan, Daesan, Gumi, Yeosu and Icheon. They put their love for the environment into practice by cleaning the intake, reservoir and nearby coasts.

In addition, Veolia Water Korea has been implementing an educational program teaching students the importance of water by experimenting with the Water Box in schools. VWK visited Hobup Elementary School in Icheon, Hwangsang Elementary School in Gumi and Hanryu Elementary School in Gumi from March 18th to 22nd and spent a valuable time with pupils experimenting with the Water Box to educate them of the importance of water.

Veolia Water Korea also offers site tours of wastewater treatment plants in Songdo-Mansu, Incheon and Cheongju to enhance the students' appreciation of water and the environment. The facilities and the exhibition hall tours help children become familiar with the water cycle.
